“What is Earth?” is a question asked by many people, on a daily basis. Most people do not know the answer to this question. Some even doubt that it even exists.

The Sun, to give it its scientific name, is a gaseous planet that orbits around our galaxy, and was created by a giant planet (Nasa). To answer your question “what is Earth?” well, earth orbits the Sun around a huge star called Procyon. The planetoid (sorbit) of earth revolves around the Sun. The day and year on earth are 24 hours apart.

The surface of earth is covered with oceans, lakes, rivers, ice caps, glaciers and poles. When the sun sets, it sends out its rays into space and the planet begins to cool off. The surface of the earth would then begin to cool. The planet continues to heat and eventually the surface of the earth becomes hot enough to freeze, which is why there are polar bears.

When the planet Earth was formed, there were no oceans, no rivers or ice caps and no polar bears. Therefore, the earth’s crust was not geologically diverse nor was it particularly stable. The earth’s crust was essentially a single plate that was fixed under the underlying molten rock, which is what makes the planet unstable. The mass of this single plate that sits atop the planet is continually moving, which can cause volcanoes, earthquakes, and thrusts in the earth’s crust. All these natural disasters have occurred since the earth was formed.

To study earth, you must go to the planet’s poles. These areas are cold because the Sun does not heat the polar areas of the planet. This creates cold poles, but warm equatorial areas, which are the typical place where you find tropical storms, hurricanes, and tornadoes.

The earth’s crust is also constantly moving. If you wanted to go to the center of the earth, which is considered the centre of the planet, it would take about 4 billion years for you to go through the whole planet. You cannot see the earth from satellites. Therefore, you do not need to worry about going to the center of the planet. It is probably more fun to go to the equator or to the outer layers of the earth, since those places are very interesting to look at.

If you went a little deeper into the earth’s crust, you would be able to see the earth’s core. The earth’s core is believed to contain about two to three times as much molten rock as the earth’s crust. Since there is about seven to eight times more molten rock in the core than there is on the earth’s surface, it is understandable why scientists speculate that the earth may have a molten inner core.

If you go deeper into the earth than you originally intended to go, you would be able to explore the very beginnings of the universe. If scientists were right, they say that the earth is about ten to twenty billion years old. That makes sense, given that scientists have found evidence that the earth was created with no beginning and that it will not end in billions of years.
